Earl Alfaro is owner/founder of ALFARO DESIGN, LLC, a design firm providing yacht and small-craft naval architecture services to yacht owners and the marine industry.
Since 1987, Earl has worked professionally as a yacht designer/small-craft naval architect, beginning with 13 years working alongside the late naval architect Tom Fexas, whose successful career was launched with the 44’ Midnight Lace. Under Tom’s tutelage, Earl learned firsthand the principles of hull efficiency and the benefits of lightweight composites in boat building. The results were witnessed on numerous pleasure yacht projects developed and launched by Tom Fexas Yacht Design during that time.
Since then, the design knowledge gained through education (Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology – Graduate; Small-Craft Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering) and working alongside Fexas has been complemented by gaining practical experience while serving as designer within manufacturing teams in both custom and production boat factories including Palmer Johnson, Grand Banks Yachts and Pursuit Boats. These opportunities, over the course of 14 years, have served as a platform from which ALFARO DESIGN contributes a significant level of manufacturing knowledge, applied and blended during important milestones in the planning and design processes, ensuring that both creative vision and manufacturing goals are realized.
Since opening in the fall of 2014, our accomplishments include design and technical support to Setzer Design Group, Nordic Tugs, Cheoy Lee Shipyards, Nordhavn Yachts, Intrepid Powerboats, Ocean Design Group, Foster’s Yacht Services, and custom yacht refit customers. At ALFARO DESIGN, each new project and client offers an opportunity to demonstrate the expertise and passion for design that has garnered positive reviews from clients, past and present.
Earl holds ‘Member’ status in the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (MRINA) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).
